Cabinetry
When the modernist art movement officially started, the concept of art being exclusive to paintings, sculptures and the likes was buried into antiquity. Domestic objects like tables, chairs and cabinets have been used as subjects for art masterpieces. Chairs for instance, began to sport more interesting designs. The simple squat variety, gave place to taller, more slender, and more elegant types whose frameworks were carefully carved and heavily ornamented. The same applies to cabinets.
While there were some at that time who thought that the new movement was out of bounds, our ancestors here in the UK thought otherwise. In due respect to the movement's growing popularity, our country's earlier generation of artists have started their own arts and craft movement. This movement, which was established in the middle of the 19th century, spurred a market for craft goods, most specifically cabinetry. The result of this cabinetry experimentation was overwhelming and not later, the movement rapidly spread to the United States as well as to all the countries in the British Empire.
All cabinetry enthusiasts and cabinet makers here in UK today respect this history like religion and as such, continuously make incredible cabinets to celebrate the craft. But of course, the other more liberal concepts that spurred after the modernist movement inspires them too when they are making cabinets. At present, cabinets for sale here in the UK range from the traditional Early English to Scandinavian and rustic to oriental. These elegant cabinets not only provide comfort but also class to UK houses. For more information about UK cabinetry, please feel free to read all our pages.
